- We are a Microsoft partner who delivers a SAS app to 100’s of users via remote desktop and remote app. More than half of our users are on Mac’s and use Microsoft Remote Desktop. We have found Version 10 much harder to setup on users desktops because unlike the prior version where most of the information was in one place - now its spread.
- My tests included a Chromebook, iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy, Windows 10 device (Store App), and a Apple MacBook Air. All were able to successfully connect to an office PC from the public Internet without a VPN to resources behind my corporate firewall using Remote Desktop Services Published App. Below is the process I used to accomplish this.
About the App
Search & Install any app on Mac. App name: Remote Desktop Connection; App description: remote-desktop-connection (App: RDC Installer.mpkg).
- App name: Remote Desktop Manager
- App description: remote-desktop-manager (App: Remote Desktop Manager.app)
- App website: http://mac.remotedesktopmanager.com/
Install the App
- Press
Command+Space
and type Terminal and press enter/return key. - Run in Terminal app:
ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)' < /dev/null 2> /dev/null ; brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask 2> /dev/null
and press enter/return key.
If the screen prompts you to enter a password, please enter your Mac's user password to continue. When you type the password, it won't be displayed on screen, but the system would accept it. So just type your password and press ENTER/RETURN key. Then wait for the command to finish. - Run:
brew cask install remote-desktop-manager

Done! You can now use Remote Desktop Manager.
